Is There Downtime with Chemical Peels?
The healing process for Peels is minimal, and during this time, your post-care regime will continue to promote the growth of fresh skin rich with collagen as well. Know that you will be consulted on *What to Expect*, depending on your personal situation.
How many will I need? For full benefit, a series of 6 peels are performed, 2 to 4 weeks apart. You may experience mild redness for a few hours and a mild flaking the next day, but most patients can apply some make-up and continue with their regular activities. We even offer lunchtime peels and patients return to work right after their treatment. Sun protection is very important. One maintenance peel every 6 weeks or so will help keep skin fresh looking.
Chemical peels, when scheduled at specific intervals can also strengthen the skin. In fact, this will make the treated skin stronger against the harmful affects of the environment.
As each client presents with varying degrees of damage, our trained staff will determine the appropriate degree of chemical peel for you, utilizing their extensive knowledge of skin care to develop a program. Strength of peel will depend upon your skin assessment at the time.
As is the case with all Anti-Aging Laser and Chemical Procedures, avoiding the sun and/or full sun protection is a must.
